Internship

LDLA Internship

We offer two internships every semester to college upperclassmen, graduate students, and new graduates interested in the world of book publishing. This role involves reading submissions and writing readers’ reports, evaluating and editing book proposals, and occasional administrative tasks. We welcome (and encourage!) lots of questions—especially from those looking to break into the industry—so we can work with you to cultivate a knowledge base and network. We are happy to help with future job placement in any way we can. Many of our interns go on to find full-time work in the industry, including agenting, editorial, and marketing positions.

This is a part-time, paid internship that offers compensation for a max of 40 hours per month (at $15/hour). We are flexible about scheduling in-office and remote time, so just let us know your availability and preferences. When applicable, we’re happy to do all the necessary paperwork to make sure students receive school credit.

Our internship periods typically run as follows:

  • Winter/Spring (January-May)

  • Summer (June-August) — For 2024: June 3 - August 8

  • Fall (September-December)

Because of the volume of interest received, we are very selective when filling these positions. We ask that all candidates have strong writing and critical reading skills. Being a bibliophile is a must! If you would like to be considered, please fill out the application below.

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN JULY 2024 WHEN WE BEGIN OUR SEARCH FOR FALL INTERNS.
